I AM HAVING A BABY!!!!!!!!!!!
Of course I was overjoyed. Cari and Jeremy are a precious couple and for 9 months I was looking forward to documenting this amazing time in their lives.
At the beginning of the month of May, I posted in my birth photographer group that I was expecting 3 May babies to photograph their birth! One of the photographers in the group asked if I had a back up photographer in case all of these babies arrived on the same date. I knew right then I needed to find one! Tryston Hines had recently started shooting births, so I reached out to her in hopes she would be interested, and she was! I would have never imagined that I would have to call on her so quickly....
On the morning of May 23rd, Cari called me from the school saying her water broke... AT SCHOOL! I was thrilled!! She and Jeremy headed to the hospital for baby day! When I last spoke to Jeremy, Cari was at a 3 and resting. Cari hadn't really been moving quickly and everything was normal and calm. I received a text one hour later that made my heart sink into my stomach. It read: "She is complete. Out of nowhere."
WHAT???!!! She is WHAT?! You read that correctly. Cari went from 3 centimeters dilated to 10 in a matter of one hour. This was birth #17 for me, and I have never in my career experienced anyone progressing this quickly.
Cari was in Conway, and I was on top of Mt. Nebo. I called Tryston, bawling. "TRYSTON!!!!!" She talked me off of a ledge and headed straight there. I then called my Second Wedding Shooter Mica Bullock as I was flying down the mountain. "MICA!!!!" I cried and cried. We had been talking about this birth for so long! I just couldn't miss anything! Mica prayed with me the entire way down the mountain. We prayed for Tryston to make it in time to capture the most important day of Cari and Jeremy's life. With my right foot on the gas pedal all the way to the floor, and my left foot firmly planted on top of my bible I began to pray, "Lord I am standing on your word, literally. Please just let Tryston make it on time." And.... She did :)
So I totally can not take credit for any of these beautiful labor shots and just did not feel comfortable putting my logo on them. I arrived about 45 minutes after Tryston did and was thankfully able to capture some shots for the Curtis family as well.
Beautiful right? As devastated as I am that I missed these moments, I am so grateful for such a phenomenal, talented lady that was willing to drop everything and run in their direction. So thank you again Tryston!
I met Jeremy in the hall when I arrived to the hospital. We both laughed about how everything happened so fast and went in to meet Miss Audrey! I couldn't wait to see this little princess!
"Jeremy and I found out we were pregnant on September 24th. We had a lot of different emotions - excited, terrified, and so thankful to get to become parents. Jeremy is seriously my dream come true. I knew on our first date that I could picture my forever with him and see myself having kids with him. It was an incredible feeling to get that positive pregnancy test and know that everything I've ever wanted was right there in front of me. We just had a feeling from the beginning of the pregnancy that the baby was a boy. We had a boy name picked out, and we even had dreams about the baby being a boy! We went for an ultrasound on December 20th, and found out we were most definitely having a sweet girl! I was afraid Jeremy would be disappointed, but I have never seen him more excited. I think we both secretly wanted a girl. On May 23rd at 9 a.m., my water broke in my kindergarten classroom. The rest of the day was a blur, but by the end, I was holding my girl. Her Daddy and I can't get enough of her. We still can't believe that this little miracle is ours! God blessed us so much with her."
I followed sweet Audrey into the nursery for all of her measurements and her first bath! She was born at 5:46 P.M weighing 7 lbs 13 oz and was 20 inches long.
A few days after arriving back at home, Cari called to see if I could come out and do a few in home Newborn shots. I was super excited to see sweet Audrey again and get to hold her!Cari and Jeremy-- Thank you so much for allowing me to be a part of this amazing time in your lives. Audrey is a true gift from God and I am so thankful I was able to be a part of this day with you!

Russellville, Arkansas Birth Photographer
This birth story is a crazy one, and one that I will never forget! I guess I should start from the very beginning. Cari shot me a message way back in October of 2013 that read like this:
